In a world devoid of eternality, where else can one derive meaning?
Aesthetics govern how we as individuals interact with our environment. Transcendent of one's specific qualia, aesthetics are collective, and elicit a wide-range of responses. When you see a constable patrolling his beat, do you experience the foreboding feeling of authority? Perhaps fear? This isn't arbitrary by any means, but psychologically engineered to dictate your behaviour.
This webpage seeks to explore the question: why do outward facing systems exist the way they do? The presupposition to this question, naturally, stems from the perspective that such systems and ways of being are deliberate by design, and exist to either subvert or control. Aesthetics exist as a fundamental aspect of this psychological warfare, which is a battle that has waged for tens of thousands of years across the entirety of the globe.
Of course, people will emphasis qualia as a counterargument. A blatant truism, however the nature of one's subjective experience versus the millions of years of in-group conditioning and cognitive development that has created a collective understanding make such a shallow argument irrelevant. As much of a sham the field of psychiatry is, if we didn't share significantly more than we didn't, such a field wouldn't be possible to begin with. As far as one can be possibly concerned, the continuum (or whichever discriminator you as the reader prefer) of where qualia ends and 'human' begins is much shorter than one might care to admit.
